  • Steve McCullough, Assistant Roadway Design Engineer at NDOT, presented on Lincoln South Beltway "Current Project Status and Innovative Funding Strategy". Steve has more than 25 years of management and design experience developing solutions on a wide range of high profile projects throughout the Midwest. His background includes extensive involvement in the design and construction of interstates, expressways, rural highways and urban arterial streets.

  • Shane Dostal and Mark Lutjeharms of LTU spoke on Husker Game Day Traffic Management.
September 2019
  • UNL students from Husker Motorsports presented on their Formula SAE design series competition. The team is required to design, manufacture, and build an open wheeled formula style race car every year. Each competition consists of both static and dynamic events that include a design presentation, business presentation, an autocross course and an endurance course. Last year the team placed 8th overall at the Lincoln FSAE competition out of 90 teams.

  • Dan Pudenz, VP of Energy Delivery at LES, reviewed system reliability at LES along with a brief overview of ongoing initiatives that impact the service level provided to LES customers.

April 2019
  • Monolith came to speak on their development of a new proprietary process that is set to change the carbon black industry.  Their first commercial scale carbon black facility is set to be built in Hallam, NE and will be the first carbon black plant to be built in the US in over 30 years.  Monolith’s proprietary process utilizes natural gas instead of crude oil as a feedstock, making the process more efficient and significantly more environmentally-friendly than alternative methods of production.

  • Evan Beachly and Jim Higgins of Drone Amplified presented on the Lincoln-based startup company focused on developing technologies that enable new uses for drones. The company's primary product is Ignis, a system that allows firefighters and land managers to safely and easily ignite prescribed fires. The presentation covered why this technology is making news, examined some of the engineering challenges faced during its development, and described what directions it will take in the future.

February 2019
  • Tour of the Lincoln Kawasaki plant featuring a look at the manufacturing processes and the technology used to build their products. Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing (KMM) is a manufacturing facility that produces All-Terrain Vehicles, Utility Vehicles, Personal Watercraft, Passenger Rail Cars, Small Engines, and Boeing 777X large cargo doors. .

  • Miki Esposito, Director of Lincoln Transportation & Utilities presented on the State of the Department and on 2019 initiatives of the City

  • Lonnie Burklund and David Young spoke on the City’s Autonomous Shuttle Project which placed Lincoln as one of 32 finalists in the Bloomberg Philanthropies' Mayors Challenge.
